Bear River is a nice ride. I have done it in a kayak and canoe. You can take out before you hit the rapids. It is a nice easy ride from Walloon to just south of Petosky. Not much traffic besides a few fishermen. Hope this helps. (Canoe outlets rent to novices floats down the river for about 8 of the 12 miles)
